The city of Brighton is located in the greater Livingston County of Michigan. Seaside Seawalls has done a number of projects for customers in the Brighton area, but our most recent was the installation of a galvanized steel seawall on Brighton Lake. Before starting the construction of this seawall, however, our team had to disassemble the customer’s pre-existing circle decking from its posts so that we could get our crew and our machinery (excavator and skid steer) in there to finish the job! Upon completion of the project though, we reinstalled brand new posts for the customer’s circle decking to ensure that everything was just as it was before we began construction. This residential waterfront property also had an existing wooden retaining wall and boardwalk in place before we began, so our team had to tear down the decking boards of the boardwalk as well as the top portion of the wooden retaining wall so that we could install the new steel seawall. The final measurements of this brand new steel seawall were 50 feet in length and 28 inches in height. 6 and 7 foot pilings were used to build the seawall, and steel tiebacks were used to help maintain the wall’s structure and durability at every 6 feet along the wall. We also placed a 4 inch perforated drain pipe along the entire backside of the wall and elbowed through it to ensure proper drainage. The seawall was then back-filled, and we graded, top-soiled, and seeded the entire back-fill area to make it look as good as new! Brighton Lake is a beautiful private, all-sports lake located in the city of Brighton in Livingston County. The lake is part of the ‘Brighton Lake Subwatershed’, which is 23 square miles large and begins in the waters of South Ore Creek and runs downstream to Brighton Lake. Brighton City is quite small, having a total area of only 3.7 square miles – 3.6% of which is water. Although the city itself is small, is it ideally located with intersecting freeways (the I-96 and US 23) running right through it. Many residents of Brighton find this extremely convenient, as it allows them the opportunity to travel or commute to Southeast Michigan with ease. Livingston County has been named the fasted growing County in all of Michigan! In fact, it is estimated that 180,967 residents call Livingston County their home. The County has a total area of 585.43 square miles, 17.03 square miles of which is water.
